What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word “jump”?
Do you immediately think of an airplane 3000ft in the sky? Do you think of a car battery? Is it an image of yourself on the high dive at an Olympic diving pool?
Chances are, the word makes you think of something that requires your feet to come off of the ground and land in another spot, or you just have a lot of car problems (I can relate)
Recently I watched a video that my husband found on YouTube that talks about jumping and what it means to jump. Since I saw this video I can’t get it out of my head. It simply explains that we are all blessed with a certain gift, and it is up to us to figure out what that gift is, and to do something with it. It goes on to show that most people wonder what it would be like to be able to quit their jobs, and live their life doing something that makes their heart sing. Most of us work a 9-5 that we are happy to do, but we feel like there is something missing. We all have a feeling that we are destined for bigger and better things. The video states that if we are just waking up and going to work everyday, and we are not feeling fulfilled, then we are not living life. We are merely going through its motions.
There is one thing that all of the movie stars, billionaires, and any other famous person you can think of, have in common.. They jumped. One day they decided they were going to take a leap of faith and do what they wanted or what they loved. They found out what their gift was, and they took a big jump to make it a reality. Some of them landed on their feet right away and others got a little banged up on the way down. Neither makes much of a difference, the point is they jumped and did not look back or think twice about it.
This is a pretty cool concept to me. I have had this on my mind for several weeks. Trying to figure out what my gift is, or what my husband’s gift is. I suppose it really doesn’t matter if I figure out what my gifts are, the only thing that is important is the jumping part. I would like to think that my blog is a big step in the right direction. I have thought about this for a while now and I finally closed my eyes and took that big step forward.
Life is short and never a guarantee, so why spend it doing something that you are not happy doing? I encourage you to look inside and find out what makes you smile. Take some time and think about it. It might be a lot of different things, or it might be one that you are super passionate about. I am one that has several to choose from. Weather or not any of them are my real gift I am still jumping. I am jumping with all of them too! Who says you have to choose just one?
So when you clock back into work on Monday morning, I want you to think about jumping and finding a way to make your dreams a reality. Close your eyes and jump for what you want..I know I will be doing as much jumping as I can.
